S.M.I.L.E a youth leadership development and mentoring nonprofit organization is on a mission to raise young leaders who can lead change wherever they find themselves despite their age.

One of the special highlights of the S.M.I.L.E Educational Outreach held at Jagunmolu Girls Senior Grammar School, Lagos was the charge by our dear founder- Mrs Bimpe Bamgbose-Martins. She spoke on the topic: Becoming a young Leader during the 2023 Mathematics Week Program.

She encouraged the students to embrace and learn skills that can help them stand out as young leaders, adding that mathematics enhances critical thinking and analytical skills.

She also urged them to discover their strengths/passion, be the best version of themselves, keep learning and solving problems around them because they are not too young to lead change just like their peers in S.M.I.L.E’s Young Leaders Club.

The 2023 Mathematics Week Program hosted by Jagunmolu Girls Senior Grammar School, Lagos in partnership with Strategy for Mentoring Initiative and Leadership Empowerment (S.M.I.L.E) was a huge success

The objective of the program themed Mathematics Beyond the Classroom was aimed at spurring the interest of students in Mathematics and raising Mathematics Champions.

The grand finale of the week which held on Wednesday 15th of February, 2023 was laced with a variety of activities by the students, some of which include: song presentations, drama, micro teaching and instructional materials competition, interschool debate and interschool quiz.

Over 250 students from 10 public secondary schools in Lagos State Education District II, participated in the enlightening program.

It was such a great joy to see how the students creatively deployed their skills and talents to drive home the importance of learning mathematics and its application in different aspects of life.

We are so elated to kick off another year of our youth leadership development and mentoring programs.

Last year, we successfully equipped 22 young leaders in an all girls school with digital skills and we are so excited to start our year by replicating this Digital Literacy Program in Archdeacon Adelaja Senior High School (an all boys school).

We are optimistic that through this training our young leaders will be better equipped with the digital skills needed to thrive in today’s world.

This unique symposium provided a platform for her to share her impact journey as a change agent with other global leaders from different parts of the world.
