RAISING ACADEMIC HIGH FLYING YOUNG LEADERS šŸ‘Øā€šŸŽ“šŸŽ“šŸ§‘ā€šŸŽ“

Education is power!
During the fourth Module of the 2024 Young Leaders Mentoring Program, our young leaders were taken through an interesting and practical session on Achieving Academic Excellence with the aim of spurring them up to excel and come out with outstanding grades.
This unique session was taken by Mrs Ajibola Babalola, Head of Communications at S.M.I.L.E, and an Alumnus of S.M.I.L.E Young Leaders Mentoring Program for Graduate and Young Professional.
She took the Change Champions through her personal academic journey, sharing simple and practical steps she took to become a first class graduate.
She emphasized the fact that Academic Excellence doesnā€™t just happen, however it requires intentional choices and actions. Hence the need to have a vision for their academics, set subject goals, manage their time properly and understand their uniqueness as well as their various reading styles.
She stated in clear terms that as exemplary young leaders they must desist from any form of exam malpractices. She encouraged them to affirm and believe in themselves as well as aim for the top.

RAISING A NEW SET OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGs) ADVOCATES

The Young Leaders Mentoring Program is aimed at grooming young leaders who can lead themselves, lead others and become problem solvers in their society.
We live in a world with myriad of challenges and as the world works towards achieving Agenda 2030,we are glad to have raised a new batch of young leaders who will be advocating and proffering solutions to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
During the fourth module of the 2024 Young Leaders Mentoring Program, our amazing Head of Communications and a member of S.M.I.L.Eā€™s Alumni-Mrs Ajibola Babalola, took the Change Champions through the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Her enlightening and educative session helped the young leaders understand the meaning, importance of the goals and practical steps they can take especially in their daily activities to help achieve the goals as well as create the world we want.
Furthermore, she simplified the teaching by teaching them about the 5 pillars of the Sustainable Development Goals namely:
šŸ‘‰People Goals
šŸ‘‰Prosperity Goals
šŸ‘‰Planet Goals
šŸ‘‰Peace Goal
šŸ‘‰Partnership Goal
A major highlight was the interactive session where the students and teachers (S.M.I.L.E school counselors) shared the SDG they were drawn to and how they have been championing the SDGs in their respective schools.
A pledge taken by the Change Champions to play their part in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by teaching their peers about the SDGs and also solving problems around specific goals.
As an organization we will not relent in pushing towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

S.M.I.L.E COMMENCES THE BUSINESS/SOCIAL ENTERPRISE COHORT OF THE 2023/2024 EXECUTIVE MENTORING PROGRAM FOR YOUTH (EMPY) šŸ’ƒšŸ¾šŸ•ŗšŸ¼

Congratulations to the 20 Mentees who have successfully scaled through the screening process and have been admitted into the Business/Social Enterprise Cohort of S.M.I.L.Eā€™s Executive Mentoring Program for Youth (EMPY).

Wishing you a transformative experience as you embark on this 6 months entrepreneurial-development journey.

S.M.I.L.E EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH: EMERGENCE OF OUTSTANDING MATHS CHAMPIONS

It gives us so much pleasure to celebrate the outstanding students that emerged as winners of the various award categories during the 2023 Mathematics Week program organized by Jagunmolu Girls Senior Grammar School in partnership with S.M.I.L.E.
The program provided a platform to identify, assess and select outstanding Mathematics Champions across the 10 participating schools.
The award categories are as follows:
šŸŸ¢ Mathematics Queen: Miss Promise Osinaku
A student of Jagunmolu Girls Senior Grammar School and one of the mentees on S.M.I.L.Eā€™s 2022 Young Leaders Mentoring Program.
šŸŸ¢ Interschool Quiz Winner: Master Osejoro Dejo
A student of Lanre Awolokun Senior High School, Gbagada and the Change Champion of year on S.M.I.L.Eā€™s 2022 Young Leaders Mentoring Program

Special thanks to the participating schools, the judges ā€“ Mrs Raro-Edo and Mr Aworuwa, and our amazing partners, who through their donations made it possible for us to give prizes to the winners which will help improve their performance in Mathematics.

S.M.I.L.E EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH: INTERACTIVE PANEL SESSION

Organizing periodic Educational Outreaches across schools is a major focal point of our programs. This special intervention seeks to address gaps that have been identified as limiting factors in the performance of students in public schools.
The panel session held during the Mathematics Week was revealing and mind-blowing as it provided a safe place for students to express their fears, myths and misconceptions about mathematics; and also enabled them air their suggestions to the school management.
No doubt, the interactive panel session provided a platform for students and teachers to share their thoughts and perception about Mathematics and how students performance and learning experience can be improved.
Special thanks to our panel moderator- S.M.I.L.Eā€™s Program Coordinator, Mrs Ajibola Babalola for driving the conversation and the awesome mathematics teachers ā€“ Mrs Oluremi Ladipo, Mr Stephen Ola, and students- Miss Racheal Alabi and Miss Taiwo Jimoh.
We are also grateful to Master Osejoro Dejo (S.M.I.L.E 2022 Change Champion of the Year) who shared his journey towards becoming a Maths Champion with his peers.
It was indeed a learning curve for everyone.
